Firstly,
it was a record breaking year for gigging ! Our first being in
February at the Parkside Day Care Centre in Houghton Regis. LotSU ended
up doing 4 gigs for this dementia club in Houghton & Leighton, a fab
bunch of folks and really worth while doing. Then Valentines saw us
over in Harpenden doing a pub gig, a first for us outside of our 2
regular hostelry's.
Lots of new venues were visited, some
easier to find than others. A big 'THANK YOU' has to go to our fab folks
at the Greenfields Retirement Village for their generous donations for
the two gigs we did there in March & August. Always fun to perform
for and a great crowd.
We are very lucky to get repeat
bookings each year and they are already coming in for next year. What
LotSU year would be complete without Studhambury ! Another fun gig to
do and be part of the amazing £7948 raised for their Clic Sargent
Children's Charity.
Christmas was 'BUSY' seeing
as we packed up on the 13th December, 5 gigs done and £700 in donations
for that month alone. In total through your dedication and hard work
LotSU raised a fantastic £3583 for Hospice at Home Volunteers, over £800 up from last year...WOW ! !
Thanks also to Keith for all the fab photos on the LotSU FaceBook page and maintaining the
LotSU Website for us. Please, if you have a few moments to spare then click along and take a look...http:// thesummerukuleles.blogspot. com/p/about-us.html
An
end of year thank you must go to our lovely landlords Garry at The Red
Lion and Kelly & Paul at The Rose & Crown for hosting our ever
growing LotSU sessions for another year. Now so popular LotSU started a
3rd session at the Queens Head - Tebworth in October, which
incidentally will be our first session of the new year on the 8th
January. At this rate we'll be meeting up and strumming every
Wednesday...
Talking about meeting up...here for the Fascinating Fact Fans amongst you are some 'Fascinating LotSU Facts'...
We gathered ourselves up and stumbled together 58 times in 2019, 32 of which were gigs !...that is truly amazing.
August & December both netted over £700 in donations, compared to last years highest month was £471 in December.
A
last big thank you has to go our lovely Jim Lad for fronting the gigs
for over 5 years. Not an easy job and very exhausting. Jim's funny
bones are much loved by the audiences we performed for making for fun
times with his wacky costumes, we never knew what he would turn up
dressed as?
So a New Year and a new chapter opens for LotSU.
It's
time for me to hand over the reins to Jeremy, Keith & Nigel to take
you all into the new LotSU decade, with lots of new fresh tunes and
ideas. It has been an absolute pleasure with your help creating such a
lovely friendly gathering for folks that just love to sing & strum
in convivial surroundings. I thank you so much for your unwavering
support for LotSU, may it continue to bring sunshine into your life and a
big smile on your face.
Happy New Year
Steve and The LotSU Lot
